In Reply to: Could Reddick Aycock be Richard's son? by Robert Aycock of 641

Reddick has long been a mystery. If you are talking the Richard, I am thinking you are- no.

His descendants are pretty well documented.

The current theory is that Robert is his father-and Jonathan and Richard his brother.

1800 Rowan Co NC Jonathan (About that year-Reddick came
to Ga.
1801 Tax List Reddick paid taxes in Oglethorpe in Capt.
Joseph Waters Dist.
1803-Reddick Acock granted a land indenture to Peter
Byerly Deed Book 18, page 592, Rowan Co NC Deeds.
1807-Land Lottery Redick Aycock, Burwell Acock,Jonathan
Acock returned by Reddick Acock agent Ogle Co Ga
1809-Reddick married Oglethorpe Co Ga.
1810-Oglethorpe Co. Ga. Reddick Aycock is listed as one of
the legatees in the will of Robert Anderson
1812-Roderick (Reddick) Aycock listed in Thomas' Georgia
Militia during muster
1824-Reddick in Walton Co. Ga.
1827-Reddick Acock listed a one of fortunate drawers in 1827 Georgia Land Lottery, 6th day's drawing, March 13 for
Captains District: 503rd District, Number 7, District
7 (Troup County). Reddick is classified as a "soldier."
Reddick Acock provided the affidavit supporting John
Armisteads application and served in the same company,
as well as Burwell Pope who was the Captain commanding
the company. Unfortunately, all we know is that
Burwell Pope's company was under Jettright Thomas, 2d
Regiment Georgia Militia and was formed in
Lexington, Oglethorpe Co., GA and discharged in
Savannah, GA. John Davis
1872- Gilbert Cook buys 135 acres from Augustus Studdard-
land was later in the ownership of Mrs. Byron Adcock-
but was worded" Hereby saving and excepting the burial
ground of 1/2 acre near the old Homestead Place of
Aycock is buried. Said burial ground to remain forever
undisturbed.

The Burwell mentioned above- IS the son of Richard-so it appears there is some close connection.

Jane Aycock did a book on Richard-very documented.

Richard is the ONLY child who is definately connected to William & Rebecca Poythress Pace-through a deed. William left no will-and the purported letter of Winnifred is NOT in Washington, DC at DAR Headquarters, though there many VERSIONS of it sent around- all typed. (No typewriters then)

Several children are thought be his-for various reasons, including mine- and that has been disputed. But Charles Brantley Aycock-Gov. of NC, would have had first hand knowledge of him-and his biography-gives him kinship. (to Jesse & Piety Barden)

Celeste Aycock Stower was my first correspondant on Reddick, and I have not heard from her since the event of computers.

I have a couple of others I will be glad to share with you if you e-mail me. (not here)
