I am a descendant of your Ira, and Alma, his daughter. In my family, Ira is actually Hyra. He is buried in Carleton, Nebraska. He was married to a Mary Brenner. Alma Axtell married Samuel Meek in Bureau County, ILL in 1874. They moved to Thayer County, NE in the late 1870s. Sam and Alma Meek had several children, Syliva, the oldest died in 1926 with her four children. Valora, the youngest, born in 1891, is my great grandmother. She died in 1989. I am looking for more info on Hyra's ancestors. Seems to be a brick wall. Hyra claimed he was half indian. He told my great grandma stories when he lived with them as she was a little girl. Interestingly, Hyra appears as Ira in the 1870 and 1900 census records. email me if you like, nnylmahs@hotmail.com
