Sandra, I have a clue that might connect your ancestors. My husband's 3great grandmother Sarah Axtell b. 1/18/1817 daughter of Luther Axtell b. 7/25/1783 married Jonas Cooper son of Efraim Cooper and Margaret Van Vorhies of Washington County, PA. So the family name "Van Vorhies" existed in the community.
