Hi Scottish John! Thank you for your interesting and informative information about where the Axford name came from. I had no idea that the name came from the different areas in England! I have sent a copy to my grandmother who has always been very interested in her name. So you have made a 88 year old woman very happy! I am from the Australian branch of the Axfords. My GGgrandfather was Joel Axford who was born in Gwennap, Cornwall in 1836. Joel's parents were John Axford and Ann Vivian. So I am descended from the Cornish side. i would love to hear about anything you may have on the cornish Axfords. Joel was a mining engineer and emigrated to Australia in 1855 probably for the goldrushes. The family story goes that Joel had a bother emigrate to South or West Australia and a brother emigrate to America at roughly the same time. So anyone that might be related or have information please reply! Thanks again for your information Michael Simpson
