Axford Family Genealogy Forum

I have included some 'Axford' photographs on my family website (Axford.org) that may be of interest to other Axfords. They have not yet been cleaned but are nevertheless usable. They include a photo of an engraving of Ludgate Hill in the late 18th century. It shows St. Paul's and St. Martin's Ludgate. An enlargement of the same shows the grocer's shop on the corner of Old Bailey where Isaac Axford (connected with Hannah Lightfoot) was an apprentice and which was later owned by other members of the Axford family. There are also photos of the old Erlestoke Church and of the memorial to Isaac the Elder and his wife on the wall of the present Church. The gravestone with daffodils is that of my GG-grandfather William Axford (d.1854) in the graveyard of the ruined Arbroath Abbey.
You can also find fairly complete genealogies of the Erlestoke and Aberdeen Axfords - I have not attempted to go very far astray where it comes to marriages outside the Axford family. There is a small error at one point, pointed out by David Axford, which will be corrected when my son Robert has time to do it.
