Hi Chris. thanks for the info. My father was Walter John Axford born in Outrim Victoria, Australia on the 7th of December 1920, passed away 12th November 1993. He grew up in the outrim area and Wonthaggi as well as working in the Wonthaggi State coal mine when he was only 13 yrs old as a blacksmith. All i know of my grandparents is that his name was Ernest and married my grandmother who was Melville ( nee Scott) Billings. I believe they both had 9 children between them from previous relationshipsor marriages, hers being Billings's and his Axfords. They then inturn got married and had 5 more children my father being in this group. He was the oldest Walter, Gladys, Betty, Joyce and Brian. Of the other 9 previous children there was two Albert's, a john, Rose, Dolly, Grace, Arthur and Tom and another who a cannot recall. Some of these were Axfords and some were Billings. My parents Walter and Doreen (nee Craft) had 8 children Kerry, Beryl, Nola, John, leanne, Trevor, and Andrew (myself)twin Leigh. Iam awaiting a copy of my fathers birth certificate from my sister and would appreciate any further information you might have as i hve just started to research my families history. thank you very much regards- Andrew Axford.
