I am confused. Henry Awbrey died in Essex Co., VA, in 1694. His Will mentions a wife, Mary. His Will mentions a brother John Awbrey, deceased and John's son Francis. The Will mention Henry's son Richard. The Will mentions Kathernie Long, daughter of Alice Long (no relationship stated). The Will mentions land on "Hodgkins" Creek.
One of the early messages at this site says that Henry Awbrey married Sarah Hoskins (b. abt. 1637), widow of Thomas Meador, and says that Sarah was the mother of Richard Awbrey.
Are these two Henry Awbreys the same person? If so, does everybody agree that he was married at least twice, first to Sarah (Hoskins) Meador and second to Mary __?__. Was he married to another wife before Sarah (Hoskins) Meador?
Awbrey and Meador are collateral names closely associated with my Gregory and Taylor families of (Old) Rappahannock Co., VA. They were adjacent land owners. Henry Awbrey deeded 480 acres of land to a Robert Bishop in the 1670s and Robert Bishop devised the land to John Gregory, Jr. in 1677. Does anybody have any information that says that any Awbreys or Meadors intermarried with Gregories or Taylors in the 17th Century in (Old) Rappahannock/Essex Co., VA?
Is there an Awbrey book that mentions Henry Awbrey? If so, what is its Title, Author and date of publication? What does it say about the ancestry of Henry Awbrey?
It is certain that the Henry Awbrey of (Old) Rappahannock Co., VA, in the 17th Century was the son of Sir. William Awbrey of Wales or is this just an (educated?) guess?
