My grandmother's (Maria Mora) maiden name was Avina. She passed away last year, and left me with little information regarding the origin of the Avina surname. Her father was Perfecto Avina and her mother was Petronila. I believe that Petronila moved to California following the death of Perfecto to live with her children from another previous marriage. Perfecto was born on April 18, 1888 and died on March 1964 (according to SS# index). I am not entirely sure about those dates, but they are pretty close. Nonetheless, if anyone has any info on the Avina line, drop me a line please. By the way, Perfecto and Petronila were from around Chihuahua, Mexico, and they had plenty of indian in them. Thank you.
