Greetings. I read your request and did a little research through my records. I found the following: Dempsey Averitt migrated from SE Virginia in the mid 18th century to the Ceder Creek area of NC. He was the gg grandson of Cristopher Averitt who migrated to VA from Wales in 1630. Dempsey Averitt had 5 sons to-wit: Henry Averitt (my gggg granfather), Dempsey Averitt II, Mills Averitt, Elijah Averitt, and Daniel Averitt. Dempsey Averitt II (I assume to be your ancestor) married twice. 1st, to Catherine Beard, and 2nd, to Dorcas Reyburn. Dempsey II had 3 sons and 2 daughters by Miss Catherine. He had 3 sons by Miss Dorcas [Hiram R., Robert A., and John Dempsey]. Robert and John died during the Civil War. Hiram R. was twice married. 1st to Julia Hilburn and 2nd to Elizabeth Ann Nunnery. He had 2 sons and a daughter by Miss Julia, William H., Dempsey III, and Mary C. I don not have info readily available on offspring of his second marriage. William (who may or may not be your ancestor, lived near Harrison Creek in what became to be known as "Tolars Island"). I have not yet located either a "John Calvin" or a documented change of name to Everett or similar. The only alteration to the Averitt name in my records is the addition of an E at the end of the name in a few cases. Hope this helps!
