I am looking for information about the Averitt family who lived in Early Co Ga/Gadsden Fl in the late 1700's and early 1800's. I am particularing interested in information about the Averitt children who became wards of Green Hill Chaires of Leon Co Fl. I have seen some old posts about the children of Abner Averitt Sr who became wards of the Chaires brothers in Pulaski Co Ga around 1823 when their father died, and who moved to Gadsden Fl soon thereafter. I would love to find a copy of the guardianship papers, and especially am interested in whether Green Hill Chaires's wife, Hannah Hatahway Averitt, was related to this Abner Averitt family, which seems likely to me.

I am particularly interested in the Hall family who was connected to the Averitt, Chaires, and McGriff families. I am researching the family of Juniper Hall Sr of Emanuel Co Ga, who I believe was a brother of William Hall of Leon Co Fl. William Hall's son John Choice Hall b 1807 Ga married Martha McGriff in 1832 in Gadsden Fl. Martha's parents were William McGriff and Susan Speight, and I have noticed that some of the Wm McGriff children married some of these Averitts. Juniper Hall's son Kindred died in Thomas Co Ga abt 1750, then his widow Susan Kornegay married Green Hill Chaires, who was widowed because his wife Hannah Hathaway Averitt and a couple of their children were killed in an Indian massacre in the 1830's in Leon Fl. William Hall of Leon Fl and Green Hill Chaires were neighbors in Leon Fl in the 1830 census.

Kindred and Susan Kornegay Hall's daughter Mary married John Walden in Thomas Co Ga, and I have discovered that John Walden's brother Peyton married Evaline Thomas, who descends from Peter Thomas and Jane McGriff. Jane McGriff was a sister of William McGriff who married Susan Speight.

We have long thought that Juniper Hall, b 1769, d 1828, was related somehow to the Choice family of Surry Va. He named a son John Choice, another Cyrus, and another Bolling. DNA testing done a year ago connects Juniper with three Hall men born in Maryland, two of whom moved to Pittyslvania Va as young adults. Though we don't know for sure where Juniper was born, this does place some of his family in the Surry Va vicinity by the late 1700's. Juniper first appears in any records in early Washington/Montgomery/Emanuel Ga abt 1790. The Patrick McGriff family was in Montgomery Co and lived near Juniper in the early 1800's. The Chaires family moved from Md to Jefferson Co Ga to Pulaski Co Ga to Fl about this same time. William Hall of Leon Fl (who may have been born i Maryland) married Jane Adams in Tattnall Co Ga in 1805, then he moved to Pulaski Co Ga then down into sw Ga and into Leon Fl. Three of Juniper Halls sons were in Thomas Co Ga by 1830, and descendants of one of these, James, lived in Gadsden Co Fl by the mid 1800's.

It appears to me from these connections ( I may have left out some) that there is a longstanding tie between these families. I am particularly trying to find the family of Juniper Hall Sr. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
