Greetings! My name is Warren Douglas Averitt and I live in Texas. I was born [1960] and raised in Fayetteville NC. I have started trying to acquire data regarding my ancesters for my sons (Dempsey Averitt [10] and Colin Averitt [5]). I was excited to come across the reference messages.

My family comes from Stedman NC (I still own land there). My father was Douglas Gilbert Averitt [b1935], his father was John Robert Averitt [b1908], his father was John Alexander Averitt, his father was Green Street Averitt, his father was Henry Averitt II, his father was Henry Averitt, his father was Dempsey Averitt. This Dempsey Averitt was the one who moved to the Cumberland Co. area in the early 1700's from Suffolk VA.

I have good data up till my great grandfather (John Alexander) and a little info on my GGgrandfather (Green Street). I am trying to find out (in addition to any other general data) more info on Green Street and his duty in the 24th NC Infantry CSA and where Henry Averitt II might be buried.

I have a copy of a book written by Herschell Strange Averitt in 1937 with information about the Dempsey Averitt decendants. I will, however, lose sleep tonight thinking about the Averitt family Bible aforementioned - as well as the apparant information that others have that I do not.

I would VERY MUCH like to receive a coy of the family tree that was offered tracing the Averitts to Normandy. I assume this was via Christopher Averitt that supposedly arrived in VA in about 1630.

Any input would be greatly valued! Thanks.
