check in Bladen County, NC around the White Oak/Jerome areas. Also in the Cedar Creek area of Cumberland County, NC. My grandmother's g-g-g-g grandfather was Dempsey Averitt of Bladen County -- but it was during the time frame of the American Revolution. I suggest that you try and get a copy of the Averitt genealogy book written by Herschel Strange Averitt (I think the 1920's?). There is a genealogy chart in the book -- I have a copy of the chart but have to locate it. I will try and locate my copy from my stored records in the next week or so and get back to you.
