Charlene, I believe that my Arthur Averitt was related to your Esther Walton (?). Arthur married the widow of John Greer, Sr, born 1685 in Baltimore County, Maryland. For his second wife he married Cloe Jones; and she married Arthur Averitt just a few months after John Greer died and left a 4 year old son named John Greer, Jr. John Greer, Sr. was old when this son was born. He was in Onslow County, North Carolina when he left his will in 1755. In his will he left John, Jr a slave named Jack; When John was 18, he gave the slave to a James Walton and called him his son-in-law. That term then is used for more than what we today mean a son-in-law.I am a Greer researcher and just found this line of my Greer family. I believe that your Esther and some of my John Greer, Jr. descendants went to Georgia with Esther and family. There is a Zadoc Greer who died in Atlanta in early 1900's. John Greer, Jr. had a son named Zadoc in Onslow County. That is the only sonor child that I have identiified for him. But with a name like that, the one in Atlanta must be related, possibly a grandchild or great-grandchild.I hope you can help me and if I find any records that include your Esther or any Averitt, I will share them with you. Thanks alot.
