Tom,

I spoke yesterday to the executive director at NHS. He said the documents referenced were from 1975. In 1985, another person covering this area thought the documentation was not sufficient, even though several people had joined NHS using the documentation, and this person then "disposed" of the aforementioned documentation. The current executive director feels there is some merit to the discussion and is beginning research on the possiblity of Huguenot connections. He hopes to prove one way or the other. He did mention that in 1951 there was a Frank V. Avent, SR. of Whitaker, NC that claimed to have the famous (or infamous????) AVENT Bible. The Bible was published in 1794, and if authentic, could contain the information we seek. It may be that someone on this site may know of this person or their kin and can obtain additional information. I certainly will be endeavoring to do so, and if succussful, will be glad to share that information and finally put this particular question to rest.

Thanks,
Anthony
