I have traced the Avents from my mothers side back to James Avent born 1807 in Wembury, Devon, UK. He was married to Martha Jakeman (b.1811).

The church records only record the Mother, Mary Avent and nothing else. I do not know whether she was married and widowed or was an Avent decendant.
I would appreciate if any one could enlighten me further
