Steve, thanks for your response. I am hoping to find someone out there like yourself that is working on the subject. Question: Why do you suppose the name of Gooch would be attached to the Avent name if it was a false identification? I see myself as a reporter for the information that is out there as it comes in. I have been writing to the Gooch Genforum and this is where I have recieved the information. It would seem unlikely to me that a Gooch historian would report an Avent connection without some truth to the assertion. The records for that period are so scarce we may never find "proof" of any family.
