Brenda, Here's what little I've got on that line: Joseph Avent, son of William Avent of Northampton Co., NC. He came to Chatham Co. before 1763, when we find him buying land for his brother in law, William Ragland, husband of Sarah Avent. His brother, John, also took up land about the same time in the Buckhorn Creeck area. This land lay between the confluence of the Haw River and the Deep River (the beginning of the Cape Fear) and the falls in Cape Fear. Children: 1. Joseph Avent b. 3/10/1796 - d. 4-1862. Married Judith (Rush) Thomas, a widow born 1802 died 1868. Children: i. Sarah Francis Farrar ii. Alvis Avent iii. Henry Avent iv. Elizabeth Farrar v. Benjamin Rush Avent vi. Jacabina Hughes vii. Glover Avent viii. George Washington Avent 2. Benjamin Rush Avent b. ? - d. 1862 Married 9-18-1856 Louisa Francis Cross Children: i. Frederick Henry Avent ii.
