Col. Thomas was my g-g-grandfather's g-g-grandfather. I've seen other references to his birth in Rouen, France, but I think it's much more likely he was from Devonshire, England. I've never seen any hard evidence proving where he was born or that he was married to Margaret Elizabeth Gooch (if you know of anything, please let me know).
