Mary Knight McGarr. Just in case you are still active on Gen Forum, I am going to post this in the "Autry Forum" and other Forums on which you have posted messages. My interest concerns a message that you posted on the Autry Forum ,Message 729 of the Autry Forum, dated September 20, 2005 at 20:21:37. In that message, you included a newspaper story about Gene Autry "The Singing Cowboy". My interest in that message, lies within that newspaper article, and I would like to get in touch with you about it. In the message, you state that your grandfather Stafford G. Smith is the primary source for much of the article. Within the newspaper article it states that "Smith still keeps an old seniority list of operators on the Frisco's southwestern division, which lists Gene Autry as "O.G. Autry". It is that list that I am interested in. I wonder if the list is still in existence, and if so, who has it , as I would like to have a copy of it, if at all possible. The reason there for follows:
My father, James Harrison Walthall was born in 1892 in Collinsville. TX, 10 miles north of Tioga, both in Grayson County, TX. He was a railroad telegrapher. He had four brothers, to whom he taught telegraphy, and all 5 brothers were career railroad telegraphers. Also,I have a story or two I'd like to share with you regarding Gene Autry's life before he left Tioga, TX. He and my Dad were connected, early in Autry‘s life. My Dad played a role in Gene’s early years, before he left Tioga, TX. I will watch the Autry Forum for a reply from you, and also check the other Forums you have posted messages on. I hope that you are still active on the forum and can help me.
Thanks,
Harry Walthall
