I am researching James S. Autery, b. 1795 NC, married Mahala ?. They had Hulda, Absolom, Clarenda, Armita, Mary, and Maryanne. This family sounds German (HULDA.....). I am descended from Clarenda who married Martin Cook (also of German descent). Then their son James Alexander Cook, then Winfred Sutton Cook Sr.
