Autrey in Conecuh Co., AL
SARAH CARY m. ABSALOM B. [BULLOCK?] AUTREY probably about 1847 or so and most likely in Conecuh County, Alabama where they were enumerated in the 1850 census:
72/72
A.B. Autrey / 37 yo b. Ala [b. 1813] / $7000
Sarah Autrey / 21 yo b. Ala
Laura Autrey / 1 yo b. Alabama
Lorenzo McCreary / 21 yo b. Alabama
Also in Conecuh County in 1850 were these Autrey households:

Bethany Autrey / 64 yo b. NC
700/700

99/99
Geo. Autrey / 27 yo b. Ala [b. 1823] / farmer / $6000
Amanda Autrey / 21 yo b. Ala
By 1860 Absalom Autrey seems to have disappeared. He is not buried in a Conecuh County Cemetery – or at least he has not been enumerated in one as found on findagrave.com.
The household in 1860:
588/568
Sarah Autrey / 33 yo b. Ala / $1000 RE / $12,000 PP
Laura Autrey / 11 yo b. Ala / -0- / $10,985 PP
Frances E. Autrey / 6 yo b. Ala / -0- / $11,574 PP
Mary T. Autrey / 4 yo b. Ala / -0- / $11,574 PP
Has anyone seen a probate record for Absalom? Are the large sums of money that his wife and daughters have from his estate?
It would make sense if Absalom, John, and George were all brothers and the sons of Alexander & Bethany Autrey . . . but genealogy doesn’t always follow what our minds think should be! So . . . can anyone tell me for sure WHO were the parents of Absalom?
Thank you for any help
