Autrey Family Genealogy Forum

I have more info regarding spouses and birth/death dates if you're interested. I just have to get it from my old, dead computer.
Believe me, if I knew where Joseph P. Autrey was buried, I'd have ordered him a VA marker a long time ago. I have paperwork to process the order for my Allison ancestors (twins John and Benjamin) in McDowell County, as well as for some other CSA veterans, including Joseph P Autrey's brother-in-law, Jacob H. Waycaster, also in the 58th.
The reason I think he is at Tolley Cemetery is because his wife and some of his sons are buried there. I have talked to some other of his descendants and so far nobody knows anything.
I agree that the Heritage books can be a good starting point, but unfortunately there are too many people who take them as gospel truth, being content to let someone else do the research.
