All these AUTREYs were the sons of John P. AUTREY and Elizabeth CLAXTON, who are buried at AUTREY Cemetery.

Joseph P. AUTREY, is my direct line ancestor. You show that he was buried at Ballew Cemetery, but I have no records indicating this. There is a Joseph P. AUTREY who died in the 1940s and whose death certificate states he is buried at Ballew. When I last visited that cemetery I found no marker

My Joseph P. AUTREY married Emmaline McHONE and lived in the Grassy Creek area of Mitchell County. He was deceased by the 1880 census, and

According to the 1890 Veterans Census, I believe it was Hiram who claimed to have changed sides and joined the Union Army.
