Where is John's family?

According to 1880 Putnam Co.,TN Census...Harrison Autrey gives his father, John Autry/Autrey, as being born in TN. I still can not find out anything about John. It's possible that he was married more than once, with both wives being named Sarah. (Sarah BOATWRIGHT) and (Sarah Ann TILLERY).

John must have died before 1844, at which time Sarah Ann TILLERY remarried to John Larkin GUNTER.

If anyone can help with this brickwall I have been trying to break through for years, I would appreciate it so much.
