I heard on a biography show that gene autry was the great grandson of micajah autrey who fought and died at the alamo. At least i think he was his great grandfather. anyway, he was a relative of his.. micajah autrey was from sampson county north carolina and was a decendant of cornelius autrey who was born in ireland in 1709 and died in edgecomb co. n.c. in 1780. i write these things as facts when i should not be so bold. these are the facts as best as i can tell from my short time at reasearching my own family. my mother is from autreyville n.c., where they celabrate micajah autrey days every year. i am also decended from cornelius autrey. good luck with your reasearch. let me know how things go.
