Robert,
My apologies if my postings have frustrated you. Perhaps the following will help as an explanation.
Re: Burie/Puri - I reviewed my first posting re: Restolits. In that posting, I said nothing about Burie or Puri because I was simply trying to find a place. The reference you found to Burie was to a much earlier posting. It was that much earlier posting that actually connected me to my cousin, who supplied the birth and marriage records, along with the name Puri (which is the exact spelling on the Marriage certificate for my great-great grandparents).
So - in my earlier message, I had never heard the name Puri before. In the message about Restolits, I was simply looking for a place
Furthermore, the information I referenced on similar spellings to the name Restolits came from replies to a Rootsweb message board, from a message that I posted at the same time that I posted this message - therefore, when I posted this message I had no knowledge of any other name similar to Restolits, even though I had already looked everywhere I could think. I have multiple other spellings from a torrent of replies I received from the other message board, none of which I have been able to organize and follow up on yet.
I have heard them referenced as Danub-Schwabians, which I believe is correct. Every record I have from my family says that they are from Austria. Still, I am not positive about this, as the only records I have of them are from Banatski-Brestovac - which is, of course, SE of Belgrade. Of course, my understanding is that the Banatski area was heavily populated by German speaking people around the turn of the century.
I likewise have been unable to find any immigration record of the family, and the only information I have regarding immigration is from my cousin, whose grandfather told him that the family came over as stowaways. Whether that is true or not, or whether that affected the immigration records, I do not know.
