The Austro-Hungarian Empire covered about 240,000 sq. miles.
When it was broken up in 1920 it's pieces became all or part of 10 or 12 different countries. And, in more recent times, some of those countries have been broken up further.
The records you seek probably exist. But, whether they are in the US or the place of origin in Europe, they are all cataloged by LOCATION. Unless you have that location there is very little hope of penetrating the European past.
If you are stuck it's time to look at Solomon's relatives and friends,who may have come from the same place, his religion, or whatever else might give some clues to his origins.
