There is an immigration record to victoria for assisted british immigrants which may be him with wife & child

Alexander GIBNEY wife Martha -both listed as 25 years
child Eliza Jane aged 1
ship - Westminster - date 1839

ages on these records can be inaccurate and so can ages on death indexes

I may be able to find what Marthas maiden name was on the victorian BDM if they had any more children - will let you know

It sounds possible that he is the same family as your GG grandmother
