Seeking any info on WILLIAM CALFE dob 1822 Edmund St Bury Suffolk.
Christened "All Saints" Wakefield, Suffolk.
Convicted IPSWICH England 2 August 1852 -Burglary.
Transported on SEAPARK to Fremantle port West Australia arrived 1854.
Married CATHERINE GRANT 8 April 1858 at Picton W.A.(daughter of JOHN & ROSE ANNA GRANT of Picton W.A.)
William set up a very successful (the first) tannery in W.A. which apparently burnt down some years later and he received a substantial insurance payout.
3 daughters:
CATHERINE SOPHIA CALFE dob 1859 Bunbury W.A. reg no 6480-married GEORGE MOSES.
FRANCES CALPH dob 1862 Bunbury W.A. reg no 6493-married ALBERT GILBERT MOSES.Whittleson Vic reg no 5022-then married JOHN DENMARK 6 June 1874 Vic reg 1350-seperated. moved to W.A.
ROSE ANNA CALPH dob 1864 Bunbury W.A. reg no 7146 married ALEXANDER GREGG.
Seems WILLIAM CALFE may have moved to N.Z. from W.A. briefly, as I found the families names on a passenger ships register to and from N.Z. family returned to Australia and settled in Victoria.
Cant find any trace of William after that.
Any info would be appreciated thanks.
