Matilda Jane MULLIN, Victoria, Australia, 1852 onwards...
Matilda Jane MULLIN, (born in Belfast, Ireland ~ 1834)was the daughter of a William MULLIN (civil engineer/surveyor) and Mary nee PATTERSON (nurse). Matilda was my great-grandfather's (John MULLIN) sister, who came to Australia with John (born in Liverpool, UK ~ 1846), her mother and Maria, a sister (born in Belfast ~1841). My understanding is that William died of cholera or something similar in the UK prior to the family's departure. I do not know exactly where the family disembarked in Australia however I believe it was at either Melbourne or possibly a western Victorian port (eg. Port Fairy) ~ 1850. I cannot trace their inward shipping entry to date. Matilda Jane MULLIN married an Alexander LAMBERT at St.Peters Church of England in East Melbourne, in 1852. I know she was living in Inglewood, Victoria ~ 1860 but do not know anything else about her or her husband's life! Can anyone please help me? I would dearly love to know more about this 'hidden' part of my family history! Anyone who can assist with factual information, photos or even relatives with stories that have been passed down through the 'mists of time' most welcome! Please write soon. Thanks and cheers, Rob Bell, Essendon, Victoria, Australia
