l was wondering if anyone knew what reason a Supt of Police would register a death.

l have a Charles POOLE b. abt 1840 in Hobart?, marrying in Oatlands Tasmania?, Martha KIRKHAM . (no details yet found of parents of Charles nor birth nor marriage).

His death 23 Nov 1875 Oatlands, Tasmania has been found.
Reg Year:1875Reg State:Tasmania Ref Number:713

Listed as Male, 35 years, Laborer (can't read cause of death) death was registered by Geo Nichols, Supt Police, Oatlands.

It has been mentioned within family research that he was a coal miner and possibly Aboriginal or of Aborignal descent.

l hope someone can help with my Charles Poole and why his death was registered by the police.

My thanks in advance for any help or direction.
