Decendants of JOHN TOY and ANN MCKEAN
Posted by: Sherill Mills (ID *****1139) Date: June 24, 2007 at 03:48:45

Looking for information on decendants of John TOY and Ann McKEAN m. 1840 Barony, Lanark, Scotland. They arrived in Hobart on 5 December 1855 on the ship John Bell which had sailed from Glasgow, Scotland. Children who came with them were Margaret (14), Peter (13), John (9), Mary Anne (7), Catherine (6) William (4).

Ann died after giving birth to Thomas while at sea and her death certificate gives the date of arrival in Hobart as her death date. Thomas died on 27th December.

I think John TOY was remarried in 1861 to Ann CUNNINGHAM. I also think his daugher Mary-Ann married James JOHNSON in 1867. Can anyone confirm either of these facts?

I do know that Margaret married Frederick MILLS in 1859 in the House of Clynevale, and moved to Victoria. These two are my husband's great-grandparents. I have full details of their decendants that I would be willing to share.

I also know that Peter died a widower in Victoria in 1914 but I have no knowledge of his wife or any children.

Hope someone out there can connect with these people.

Regards,
Sherill Mills
Melbourne, Australia
