William Butters - Methodist minister
Posted by: Barbara Tyerman (ID *****5953) Date: July 02, 2006 at 12:39:00

I am interested in any information about William Butters who was born in 1810 in Lincolnshire, England. He married in Hobart, Tasmania in 1842 to Jane Middleton Waterhouse. They had 2 children born in Hobart, 3 in Launceston & 4 in Australia.
William Butters was Methodist minister, & went to Tasmania in 1834 where he ministered in Port Arthur. In 1850 he was moved to Australia.
By 1871 he was back in England.
In 1881 his daughter Jane was with him. The census stated she was married, her surname now Lyph. I assume she married in Tasmania or Australia, but I have not been able to find any information.
