Henry Gomm - convict!
Posted by: Roger Gomm (ID *****2846) Date: January 06, 2004 at 00:47:53
  of 1518

Henry Gomm is born in 1808 Sherston Magna, Wiltshire, England. His parents William Gomm and Sarah Golding. On the 4 April 1835 Henry was convicted at the Gloucester Assizes and sentenced to fourteen years transportation. Henry GOMM was transported on the ship "Asia" on its 8th convict voyage. The ship departed Sheerness (at the mouth of the Thames River) on 21 Feb. 1836 and arrived Tasmania on the 8th November 1836. The Convict Assignment List shows Henry Gomm.

He is recorded as dying in 1868, Victoria, Australia.

Strangely in the Colonial Tasmanian Family Links; Henry Gomm is recorded married in 1843 in Hobart, Tasmania to Hannah Neal and they have six children recorded all born in Hobart, Tasmania;
William Gomm, born 1838
Thomas Gomm born 1840
Unnamed female Gomm born 1843
Sarah Louisa Gomm born 1848
Sarah Louisa Gomm born 1849
John Gomm, born 1847

Is this the same Henry?
