Maurice William & Lily Brumfitt – Yorkshire to Aus
Looking for any information on Maurice William Brumfitt who was born on 24 January 1892 and christened on 28 February 1892 in Burley, Yorkshire, England. Maurice was the son of James Brumfitt born 8 March 1871, Bradford, Yorkshire and Alice Booth born 1872 Bradford. James and Alice married on 21 March 1891 in Burley, Yorkshire.
Maurice, along with his mother, was counted in the 1901 UK Census (aged 9) I haven’t been able to locate his father yet, but I know that James died later that year in Newcastle, England; and that his mother, Alice, remarried John Harry Myers in Burley the following year (1902).
Maurice emigrated to Australia (Tasmania), I’m not sure when but I do know that he was a Private in the AIF Kit Store during WWI. He enlisted on 14 July 1915 (aged 23) which means that he emigrated any time between 1901 and 1915. I know he survived the war as he was discharged on 20 January 1919.
Maurice had a wife named Lily (surname unknown) but I don’t know if they married in the UK or in Australia so I don’t know where Lily was born (England or Australia). Chances are, that they married in Australia as I can’t find a marriage reference for Maurice on the St Catherine’s House Index (UK Births, Deaths & Marriages).
I have plenty of information on Maurice’s (Brumfitt) ancestors but I am looking for any information on his descendants, whether through BDM Lookups or if anyone recognises the names, or whatever.
Will gladly share information on his ancestors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
