Martin Thomson
My great great grandfather Martin Thomson was convicted in the Edinburgh Court of Inquiry 1844 and sentended to 10 years transportation. He embarked on 8 March 1844 and landed in Tasmania on 30 July 1844.
He was freed in early 1852 and on 6 June of that year, married Frances Brain.I am unsure of how many children they had but my great grandfather Archibald Thomson was born in Launceston on 9 October 1857.He came to New Zealand and was married in Lyttelton in 1876 at the age of 18.Archie had a large family, of whom the youngest Nora Eileen is my grandmother.
I have photocopies of convict records for Martin but they are very difficult to read.It would be great to hear from Thomson/Brain researchers.
