Cheryl, I had already thought of that and checked if she was born illegit to Sophia but nothing listed
Even if she was you would think it unusual for Sophia then to have another daughter and also call her the same name as Mary Ann was born later than Mary Jane
I think you would need to apply to the tasmanian registry of BDMs for any certificates - not sure as never needed one from there before
I don't think they have transcription agents down there either which are cheaper
I thought that maybe a copy of her marriage cert. would have more info at least on her birth place and possibly parents if you are lucky
Didn't mean to throw a spanner in your family works but it was just the way I saw it and only my opinion
If you know any more about where Sophia came from that may help and we might be able to check illegit births wherever she came from
