Do you have access to Hobart Gazettes??
There are about 200 mentions of ROOPE and most of them would be Lavington. Mainly just land records etc.

Tasmanian Directories also have mentions of him.
1867/68 merchant at Salamanca Place.
1867/68 Consuls and consular agents in Tasmania- Portugal and Denmark, Sweden and Norway- L ROOPE Esquire, New Wharf, Hoabrt Town. (also mentioned in 1859)


1849/50 Tasmanian Royal Kalendar & Almanack.
List of Vessels and their owners.
Port of Launceston..."Petrel" barque, Carder, 195; J Thompson, L ROOPE, A H MANNING, A J MANNING.

1849/50 Shipping Agents- Hobart Town. L ROOPE, New Wharf.
