Just found your request and decided to respond
even though some time has passed since your enquiry. William Bennett. Single. Tried 19/9/1836 Central CC Court for larceny, sentenced to 14 yrs. Arrived in Colony on "Frances Charlotte" (2) 4/5/1836 which deptarted Portsmouth 1/1/1837. Executed (hung) for murdering Thomas Shand with an axe for informing on his secret stash of tobacco 23/3/1847. Ref: Tasmanian Convict Records. Con # 4952 Con 31/3 #2617 PRO London - Convict muster. "Tasmanian Gallows", Richard P. Davis, 1974, Tasmania.

John Bennett. Single. Tried 25/4/1835 Glasgow Court of Justice for theft. Sentenced 7 years. Arrived "Frances Charlotte" 4/5/1837. Certificate of Freedom #407/1842 Ref: Con 31/3 #2622
