Thanks for that bit of information. I have since found out that he might have been born in the West Indies. He was a sailor so might have worked his passage to Australia from Plymouth in Devon. Next step is to find crew lists, possibly he sailed the same year that he was baptised. He was baptised in Saint Saviour, Dartmouth on August 4, 1824 so this gives me a starting point. Have to be part detective to follow this fellas trail. Anyway thanks again Gordon.
