Thanks for the information regarding the article in the Advertiser I have found it and have emailed the Caledonian Society.
I know of 3 Smith/Edgar relationships. Robert Edgar married Elizabeth Chancie Smith, William Edgar arrived SA in 1874 his father was James Edgar and mother was Jean Smith from Renfrewshire and Frank Smith married Florence Edgar (my grandfather's sister).
Thank you very much for taking the trouble to look things up and for the information regarding the Caledonian Society.
