John GAVIN ( later becomes Gavan )arrived in S. Aust on the barque William Nicol from Ireland 1840 as a single man , he had two sons Joseph b 1842 and John b 1844 with Mary NEULES. Mary Neules died in 1846 ( ref SA deaths )and he re-married Anne JACKSON and they had two daughters Maria b 1850 and Ann b 1853. John ( sen ) died 1888
Have been un-able to find any details on the arrival/ birth of either of his 2 wives, nor the marriage details to Mary Neules as it appears it was b4 offical marriage records commenced in 1842. The Holy Trinity church held some early records but again nothing there for him.
Neules is likely a spelling mistake and more likely Neale or Newell.
I am hoping that someone has a suggestion , particularly for Mary NEULES.
