It is possible he was born in another state but the family did not seem to move around.
Both Nicholas and Catherine (1887 & 1884) died in Adelaide as did James.
I just did some checking and if James was born in 1863 his mother Catherine would have been 56 - she is getting a little old to be having children.
Could you look for any James Joseph ? with any other parents b abt 1863 - maybe he was adopted or the child of one of the children?
