Headland & Rourke Families in Brisbane - Help needed
Posted by: Graeme Dobson (ID *****5972) Date: August 15, 2005 at 15:56:09

Seeking information about Headland family members in Brisbane 1860s - 1880s. I am researching a Robert James Headland (1839 - 1925), a railway man, who arrived in Queensland aboard the Fiery Star in 1864 and married a Mary Rourke in 1866 in St Stephens church, Brisbane. Mary's Parents were John & Alice.

In the Queensland electoral roles I found a Neville Butler Headland had freehold land in Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley in the 1870s. Interestingly a John Rourke is also listed in Brunswick Street.

There is also a listing of a Neville Butler Headland being buried in Toowong Cemetery in 1888. Six other Headlands are shown to be buried with him.

I am wondering if there is a connection?

Can anyone assist with information?
