Dear Don,
thankyou for replying to my query. It's good to get some help in an area that you are not familiar with.
Presuming this person who was on the ship from Aus to the UK died at sea, would you expect to see his death recorded anywhere in Australia ?
He was James Emans POORE and I think he was probably returning home to England in 1888/ 1889, because his mother had died Nov. 1888.Maybe he tried to see her before she died.
He left behind a wife in Brisbane area and three children.
Should I get someone to look at your Sate Library of Queensland or similar?
