Dear Liz,
Thanks again for your marvellous help with the death notices in Brisbane.
May I ask you for one more?
I think I have a lead to the Gibsons -
Ruby Harding born 7 Aug 1891 QLD, married Douglas William Gibson in Brisbane 31 Mar 1917. Douglas was born 21 Sep 1892 in Brisbane, son of William Douglas Gibson and Mary Fraser. Douglas was living at Kedron QLD when he enlisted on 11 Feb 1942 in the Army, WW2 service number Q124886, and he was a Staff Sergeant for the Volunteer Defence Corps when discharged in 1945. Ruby Gibson lived at Haig St, Gordon Park, and died on 8 Jun 1951 at Brisbane, and was cremated at Mt Thompson.
A cousin recalls that they had 3 daughters -
Heather Gibson married Jack T Reid and had 2 children Douglas and Carol Reid, and lived at Haig St, Gordon Park.
Hazel Gibson married Edward (Eddy) J Ranahan, and she had one daughter who married and moved to Sydney. Edward John Ranahan was born on 31 Jan 1911 at Dalby, QLD, and he was living at Kelvin Grove when he enlisted in the Australian Army at Auchenflower, QLD, on 9 May 1941, Service Number Q107183. He was a private with the 5th Field Regiment when he was discharged on 3 Nov 1945.
Sylvia Gibson married David Mackay who had a jewellery business in Fortitude Valley.
I can't find anything on Ranahan or Mackay, perhaps they moved, but I think this may be Heather and husband Jack Reid -
