Hi Richard. Sorry can't help in regard to how the Oare's ended up in the USA. My interest only comes from my g g grand aunt Emily Augustus who married John Edward Oare in 1860 at Queensborough, Kent, England. They came out to Australia in 1874 but lost track of them after 1875.
John Edward Oare b 1838 in Sheerness, Kent was the son of John Oare b abt 1805 Hythe, Kent d 1883 Sheerness & Frances Unknown b abt 1810 Eastchurch,Kent.Their other children were William Henry b1835, Sarah Ann b1842, Harriet b20/6/1844 m George William Monk, Ann Frances b1845, Frances J b1848, Charles Thomas b1850 & Caroline b 1853, all born in Sheerness, Kent.
Haven't been able to find any other Oare's in Australia. The spelling of the surname may have been changed and as there were no children in Emily's marriage to John Oare that has made it difficult searching any further. John's occupation in 1875 was a baker. Good luck with your research.
