Help needed in U.K. pleeeease!!

hello, can anyone help me track down my ancestor please?? His name was James Nation and he was transported to the Swan River colony aboard the Hashemy in 1850, aged 50 years old. He was sentenced to 7 years. He reached Australia safely, but I have no idea how to track him from his arrival. Does anyone know if convicts ever returned to the U.K. after serving their sentence? I would be really gratefull if someone could point me in the right direction, as I have no idea where to try next. thanks Diane x x
