Frank Weakley, was my great grandfather. Frank was born in Worle, Somerset England in 1862. He traveled to Monal Creek, and/or Queensland Australia in 1883. Frank came out on the "Hampshire" in November 1883. Monal Creek is where Frank would later marry Catherine Teresa Stanislaus Holmes on November 14, 1895. Frank may have been a miner while living in Australia. It appears that Frank's older Brother, John Weakley old a mine in Monal Creek; as well as some Hotels and Boarding Houses. Frank may also have worked in some mines in South Africa before traveling to the United States. Frank died in Providence, Rhode Island USA in 1935. If anyone has any information about these individuals, I would love to hear from you.
Catherine use to tell her grandchildren about riding horses without saddles and killing large snakes while living in Australia. Cathrine (Kate) was from Roscommon Ireland. I am curious to learn more about their lives, family, find photos, learn why Frank went to Australia (I know think to work for/with his brother John) Learn the name of the Church they got married in (Monal Creek) Many questions (now think it may have been in someone's home?
Thank You
