Hello Donna
Sorry for the slow reply but we have been away in Canberra for a couple of
months. Yes there are a lot of problems with the early stuff also some of
the later lines are difficult because of the similarities in names.
I am actually looking for descendants of John's brother or half brother
Thomas Flood & Sophia Roberts. Sophia is in my husband's line.
You must be well connected with the Brumby, Dadson, Dally, Summers,
Pfenningwerth, and other Tasmanian families. I have taken that line as far
as I can with the Tas. BDM records but I don't have any descendants in the
20th century.
Do you know if John & Margaret's son, John, died in 1828 Sydney or did he go
to Tas. with them?
If you have the names of any of the Floods from Tas. who ended up on the
mainland please let me know. There are a few unexplained mainland Floods in
the records who may or may not be related to this family.
These are the only births that are in the records.
William A Gorman Bp 1795 M: Ann Gorman
William Q Gorman Bp 1796 M: Ann Gorman
John Flood Bp 1797 Par: Joseph Flood & Ann Germaine
I have been give a full date for Edward but I don't know where it came from.
Also a death date of 1832 at Windsor for Ann but I don't know where it came
from. Neither are in the BDMs. If Ann had other children it must have been
under another name. Have you checked her whereabouts in the Census/ Muster
records?
I have been told that John, Joseph, Thomas, Edward, James, and Ellen/Eleanor
were half siblings and that the children were put in the Orphanage by a Mr
Smith.
I know the Smith name came from a Muster.
I am sending you what I have on John & Margaret's line. I would appreciate
any additions or corrections that you can make.
Helen Hanson
